THE Supervisory Committee on Edible Oil Import and Distribution makes efforts to ensure that consumers have access to safe edible oils at reasonable prices and to meet domestic consumption needs.
In meeting domestic demand, pricing is being systematically regulated to ensure that edible oils are sold at fair and appropriate rates locally, based on fluctuations in international market prices from exporting countries.
The current wholesale reference price for palm oil is set at K6,185 per viss, which shows a decrease of over K1,000 per viss compared to the reference price in January of this year.
“Oil is something we use every day. Currently, the price has gone down, and it has become more convenient to buy. It is about K1,000 cheaper compared to the past, so it is more OK for us. Retail prices are reasonable, and it is also quite easy to purchase. It is a big relief as the prices drop,” said Ma Win Win Mar, a local in Tatkon Township.
